Lessons incircus skills

The day the circus came to town was a day to remember for pupils of Slindon College when they enjoyed a full day of learning the skills which more usually take place under the big top.

An assembly conducted by John Kennett of the Circus Skills Company, BrightFX Education, set the timetable for the day with the boys enthralled by various acts of juggling, mono-cycling and balancing.

Such feats for the pupils included one boy progressing from balancing a feather on his nose to a dining room table on his chin, as part of a series of six-hour workshops that enabled all the boys to participate and discover their circus skills.

Headmaster Ian Graham, who also joined in the fun with a short lesson on a uni-cycle, said: 'The boys and staff had a thoroughly enjoyable day, we all learned a tremendous amount about the skills required to perform the various feats demonstrated throughout the day. I would highly recommend these workshops to other schools.'
