The city’s bike sharing scheme has decorated 33 of its bikes ahead of Brighton Pride next month.
BTN BikeShare, which has 450 bikes available for hire around the city, decided to add the names of LGBTQIA+ icons to 33 of its bikes in its #ridewithpride campaign.
It celebrates the icons that have provided inspiration and paved the way for others in the LGBTQIA+ community, including George Michael, Grace Jones, Sandi Toksvig and Britney Spears, who headlines Pride Festival on August 4.
It also includes local icons Juno Dawson and Vince Venus.
Bike users will be tasked with locating the special Pride bikes and taking an ‘iconic photo’ with them. They can then enter into BTN BikeShare’s #ridewithpride social media competition.
The most ‘iconic’ images will be put to a public vote and the owner of the most popular photo will be crowned BTN BikeShare’s Pride Icon, winning champagne afternoon tea for two at The Ivy in the Lanes.
The winner will be announced via Instagram on Thursday, August 16.
To be in with a chance of winning, entrants need to share their photos on Instagram, tagging @BTNBikeShare and using the hashtag #ridewithpride.
Brighton Pride Weekend takes place from Friday, August 3 to Sunday, August 5.
