Lifeboat lynchpin honoured for 20 years' service

A LIFEBOAT stalwart has been honoured for 20 years service at sea.

Mike Eustace (pictured left) has been working with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) helping keep people safe on the water since 1990.

He has risen to second mechanic in that time and in recognition of his commitment, Mr Eustace was presented with a letter of thanks and a commemorative badge from Hastings lifeboat operations manager Peter Adams.

More than 50 of his colleagues, family and friends packed into The Dolphin pub on the seafront for the celebration, and Mr Adams said it was a proud moment for all those present.

Mr Eustace said: “It is really my partner Jacqui who deserves the medal for so cheerfully putting up with me being summoned by the lifeboat pager at all hours of the day and night. I would also like to thank my employer Marriotts photo stores at White Rock who have totally supported my lifeboat efforts over the years - even if it has meant being called away from serving in the shop.”
