Littlehampton schoolgirl's amazing attendance feat

WITH not a sniffle, a cold or a bout of flu in four years, one Littlehampton schoolgirl really has shown her dedication to the cause.

On her last day at Connaught Junior School, Suzanna Easton was presented with an engraved fountain pen, just reward for not taking a single day off, from years 3 to 6.

She said: "I have really enjoyed the four years I have spent at Connaught, and I wouldn't have wanted to have missed a day here. I have had some really nice teachers over the time I have been here.

"My favourite subjects have been literacy and art, and I will always remember our stay at Lodge Hill when I was in year 6."

Suzanna was one of 23 pupils handed a 100 per cent attendance prize for the last school year, but the only one with such an impressive record overall.

Head teacher Judy Grevett said that Suzanna was a "lovely pupil".

"To be at a school for four years and never have a day off is a fantastic achievement! It has most definitely helped her learning.

"We will miss her next year, as we will miss all our year 6 pupils who are moving on. We wish them every success in the future."

She added that the 22 other prize winners were also presented with fountain pens, and that the number of pupils achieving 100 per cent attendance had grown every year since the school had started recording the figures, in 2006.
