Littlehampton teens’ debut disc helps support cancer victims

TALENTED young musicians from Littlehampton and Angmering are hoping to help those affected by cancer, with the release of their debut EP, later this month

Members of the Littlehampton rock band Our Fallen Hero recently won their first recording contract, worth £600, as part of a regional competition over Facebook.

With their first four-track CD recorded, the band are hoping to share their success with others less fortunate. They will be donating every penny raised from their disc to Cancer Research UK.

The band’s lead singer Perry Burdfield, 16, from Littlehampton, said: “We know quite a few people who have got cancer and seeing as we won the thing for free, we thought it would be good to give something back.

“It’s not like we’re losing money and we didn’t want to simply take advantage of our opportunity. This is something that is pretty close to our hearts.”

The five-piece band, made up of singer Perry, rhythm guitarist Joe Glynn, lead guitarist Sam Brooks, William Hammond on bass and George Ashcroft on drums, formed in August, and recorded their EP at the Manor House studio in Brighton, last month.

The CD features four tracks, Monster, Lost Under Sexual Tension – or LUST – Set Me Free and Burning Out.

Perry added that the disc was a combination of experimental songs the band had been perfecting for the past few months.

The EP will be available later this month on iTunes, for £4. Copies can be reserved on the band’s Facebook page.

The first 30 to pre-order an EP will receive a specially signed CD.

Perry, whose band’s recording contract bid featured in the Gazette in January, said: “I couldn’t thank all the Gazette readers, family and friends, enough for this opportunity. It means so much to us.”
