The main counters will be open from Monday – Saturday, 9am – 5.30pm. The new counter position, offering selected services, will be open from Monday – Saturday: 8.30am – 5.30pm.

This is an extra eight hours a week including Saturday afternoon and earlier opening. These changes will make it more convenient for customers to visit, said a Post Office spokesperson.

An external ATM machine will also be installed and a wider selection of on demand travel money will be available.

The branch will be closed briefly for the extra counter to be added to the premises on Tuesday June 6 at 5.30pm.

Alternative branches available on the morning of June 7 include: Blatchington Road Post Office and Melville Road Post Office.

Peter Wilkinson, Post Office area manager, said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.”

The changes are part of a major modernisation programme across the Post Office network designed to make it easier for customers to do business, through longer opening hours and modern open plan environments.
