Marathon milkman

A MILKMAN raised more than £6,000 for St Peter and St James Hospice in North Chailey by running in the London Marathon.

Jim Marsh (pictured), 54, who delivers in the Chailey and Newick areas took 5hrs 4mins to complete the gruelling race.

He said: 'The crowds were fantastic.

'I kept hearing them shout to me: "Come on Jim, go on!"

'I thought of stopping when I reached the 18 mile mark and my side hurt.

'But then I remembered the hospice and there was no way I was going to do that.

'I kept passing people being given first aid and ambulances driving about.

'It was the hottest London Marathon on record but I still enjoyed it.

'I got back that evening and then left at 1.30am to go to work.

'People must have their pint of milk!'
