A huge beach clean planned for Sunday following Brighton & Hove Pride has seen more than 1,000 people sign up.

Organised by Ocean's 8 Brighton collective, the beach clean will run across three time slots between 7am and 3pm and will see the litter pickers take part in a silent disco while they set to work.

The two locations will be Tempest Inn and Brighton Dolphin Project.

The silent disco is based on Pride's Generations of Love theme, with 50 years of pop hits from sixties flower power, seventies disco, eighties new romantics to pop-tastic nineties and noughties.

Registration for the silent disco beach clean is now closed, with a spokesman from the collective stating they had been 'inundated' with people wanting to take part.

The collective added: "Last year City Clean staff collected over 100 tonnes of litter after Pride, and with an estimated 450,000 people due to attend the city-wide weekend festival, the Ocean's 8 Brighton team say it is our duty to support the city cleaners and protect the ocean."

Oceans 8 Brighton is a collaborative co-operative formed of eight female-led projects who are working in the city and beyond to protect our oceans.
