Netherfield Church - The service this Sunday July 7 will be at Mountfield and is a Family Service. The remaining services for the month are; Sunday June 14 is a Holy Communion at Netherfield and please note this change from the usual schedule due to the Brightling Horse Trials which will see Brightling village too busy to host their usual service. Sunday July 21 will be a Holy Communion at Mountfield and Sunday July 28 a Holy Communion at Netherfield as usual. All services are at 10 am.

We are holding another Coffee Morning to raise funds on Saturday July 27 from 10 am. until noon. This is to give everyone good warning and to thank Jane Chater for offering to host it at Oak Lodge, Saxonwood Road, Battle where there will be a warm welcome for everyone. Paul Smith, Churchwarden.

If you value the special countryside round here, you will be interested in the Darwell Area Conservation Society (DACS) which will be holding its inaugural meeting this Sunday July 7 at 4pm in Mountfield village hall. As the name implies, DACS is centred on the Darwell Reservoir and therefore includes bits of Netherfield, Brightling, Mountfield and Robertsbridge. DACS has grown out of a bunch of local residents who decided that the energy generated to fight various local threats could be put to wider, positive use. Alongside a presentation of their aims, there will be an exhibition of old photographs of the old farms around (and under) the reservoir. There will also be a sale of books of local interest, including a history of the Darwell Reservoir. And, of course, there will be tea and delicious cakes. Entrance free. White Hart - There are various groups meeting throughout the month including Boules, The Rover group, The Harley Davidson group, T.R.Cars and The Breakaway Club, if you would like to know more about any of the dates and times or the darts and football teams please give Sean a ring on 01424 838382. White Hart Boules Pitch. The pieste is free to use, any clubs please feel free to come and use the pieste, FOC any time except match days which are Saturday afternoons throughout the season.
