One Bognor group asked for details

SUPPORTERS of a radical plan to create a single council for the Bognor Regis area have been told work out detailed proposals.

The One Bognor group’s idea of a postcard poll among residents to gauge the support for a single council to replace the six parishes around the town was backed at the town electors’ meeting last March.

But the members of the town council’s policy and resources committee on July 1 said more facts were needed before it could consider a response.

Cllr Adam Cunard said: “We should invite One Bognor to come forward with costs to see if we support this idea or not.” The cost of the poll could be supported by a grant from the council, he stated.

His idea of inviting One Bognor to produce the extra information for the committee’s meeting on August 5 was agreed.

Cllr Eileen Anderson said: “Something has got to be done on this side of the district. We are not going to go forward unless something happens.”
