Be satisfied and leave park to us

The letter from Mr Stanley Mounsey shows how blinkered he is, as we know many activities take place within the park during the year, we have the Country Fair, activities for children on a Wednesday during the school summer holidays.

It is also lovely to enjoy the musical interludes from the bandstand in the summer, a throw back to Victorian times.

This park was designed as a place of tranquillity where people can stroll, take in the well landscaped gardens without having to avoid contact with cyclists, who often have no means of warning you
that they are approaching as most do not fit bells on their bikes.

There is a vast difference between the cycle route on the promenade as it is much wider than the current paths in the park.

It should also be noted that much has been said about ensuring that the routes to be used should be clearly marked out so that the user knows where they should be riding.

At what cost will this be to us the tax payer?

Cycling over the years has decreased but everyone walks and this is very obvious to all of us who use the park.

As a daily user (in all weathers) I see people using this wonderful facility, and the marvellous thing is people stop and pass the time of day.

I cannot see Mr Mounsey and his cycling friends enjoying this.

I suggest that he be satisfied with what they have and leave our park to us.
