Stunning results for our local schools

It was an exciting time for students across the Rye and Battle area on Thursday as they turned up to get their GCSE results.

It was a good picture overall with Rye College gaining good grades in all the core subjects and A* - C grades going up in eleven different subjects.

Robertsbridge College gained its best results in five years while Claverham results were up by six percent.

Claremont students, sitting GCSE’s for the first time this year ,matched the results of Battle Abbey School.

It bucks a national trend which has seen English results down on last year.

Rye is looking like the place to be over the bank holiday weekend with the International Jazz Festival taking place.

Many of the top name concerts have already sold out but there are plenty of high quality free concerts to enjoy in venues around the town, including three days of live music in the garden of the Ypres Castle where popular local outfit The Turpin Hubbard Band perform on Saturday afternoon.
