A crash at roundabout is inevitable

I am at a loss to understand how permission was given to locate a major supermarket with the entrance and exit onto a very busy roundabout.

My wife and I travel round the roundabout regularly and have witnessed a lot of close shaves and, as the year advances and holiday traffic becomes heavier, I can foresee nothing but aggravation and frustration for not only motorists, but holidaymakers, too.

Unless the council steps in, I can see a serious accident occurring, with loss of life. Surely there must be a better option for traffic to enter and leave the supermarket.

Would a slip road off the dual carriageway not be a better and safer option, with the exit in Courtwick Lane?

The whole situation is not helped, either, by the railway crossing gates at Lyminster, as when they are closed, they cause a large build-up of traffic that backs up to the Morrisons roundabout.

I am sure a lot of your readers will ask why I didn’t send this letter before, as Morrisons has been open for three months. The answer is simple – I thought the situation might improve. Sadly, it has not.
