Aircrew are invited

THE Aircrew Association was an organisation formed to enable former and serving military aircrew members (of any rank) to meet and retain the very deep friendships that were formed among operational crew members.

As you can imagine, most of our members were former Second World War aircrew who are now passing on to a less mechanical form of aviation, leaving fewer and fewer members to keep things going.

Things have now become so difficult that the nationwide Aircrew Association has ceased to exist.

As a result, individual branches have closed in some cases, amalgamated in others, or decided to keep going in an individual manner as long as possible.

We have therefore become the West Sussex Aircrew Association and I am writing to give our details and to invite any former or serving military and civil aircrew (military experience is no longer required for membership) who do not yet belong to us, to join us, to keep the organisation going a bit longer.

Our members come from the Worthing, Littlehampton, Bognor and Chichester areas.

We meet on the first Tuesday of each month at noon for 12.15pm, for a small meeting to deal with any business that has arisen, but mainly to have a drink and lunch, followed by an interesting talk.

The venue is the Arun Yacht Club at Littlehampton.

Pub lunches are held on the second Tuesday of the month and venues are detailed in our monthly newsletter. We try to go away on a couple of visits each year.

This year we went to Veterans Day at the RAF Museum, Hendon, and to RAF Odiham.

Any prospective members should contact me, telephone 01243 551159 or e-mail [email protected]
