Car park quibble for cricketers

MONTY'S item contained an item concerning Steyning Cricket Club car parking arrangements (Monty Street, last week's Herald).

His intrepid reporter noted that as the season was upon us, the club intend to make sure that the car park was available for players and officials on the morning of matches.

He forgot to mention, however, the sign which clearly states that "the car park is only for users of the Memorial Field".

We can only speculate on his business there on that Tuesday.

Perhaps he was there to watch the grass growing.

Editor's note: Car parking at Steyning's Memorial Playing Field is the responsibility of Steyning Parish Council.

This is the same parish council which had not agreed the car park could be closed on Friday evenings, at the time notes were being placed on cars.

The plan was discussed '“ and agreed '“ at last Tuesday night's playing fields committee meeting.
