Donation thanks

I WOULD like to thank all the members of the public who have donated money into the granite capstan box in the pedestrian precinct in Littlehampton.

This year, a total of £160.88 was collected, which is more than double last year’s amount.

It also received its first £20 note.

In addition, a further £108.11 was accumulated in the collecting boxes placed in Quality Textiles, Vektra Business Services, Shoe to Boot, until it closed, and at David O. Jones Sports.

I would like to thank all the owners of these businesses for making room for a box. Special thanks must go to Paul Crease at the Arun View Inn for his donations from the bar.

Since its inception in 2002, in memory of my late godmother Frances Harrison, who was responsible for me becoming a charity bucket collector 35 years ago, more than £2,300 has been raised through the boxes and the capstan.

The money is split equally between Littlehampton Bonfire Society and the Littlehampton Carnival Association, to help towards the running costs of the groups, such as postage and stationery which, in turn, releases more funds to stage their events.
