Great school

In response to the recent negative letters regarding The Littlehampton Academy, I would like to add my opinion as a parent of a current year 11 student there.

My son has been at the school since year seven and the first intake under the new academy.

We have had nothing but good experiences with the school, staff, administration and other students.

From day one, my son has been encouraged and valued, his strengths acknowledged and promoted, his weaker subjects assisted and helped.

Every parents’ night we have attended we have been treated with courtesy, praise and positive feedback and every teacher I have dealt with has been friendly, professional and approachable.

Sadly, this last 12 months my son has been very ill.

It literally came from nowhere, and despite endless doctor’s and hospital visits, we still have not got 100 per cent to the root of the problem.

Until he was taken ill, he had 100 per cent attendance at the school, yet sadly now this has fallen under 80 per cent.

However, at no point have we had anything but support from the staff there – teachers and admin staff alike.

There has been amazing support for him and myself at what has been an extremely stressful time , especially as he in his GCSE year.

Work has been sent home, there have been emails and phone calls, and even personal hand-written notes from his teachers offering help and encouragement.

I cannot thank the school enough for its continued support and just wanted to say that although there may be problems ‘behind the scenes’, it certainly hasn’t affected the day-to-day treatment of its students.
