Green bin charge is unfair of council

IS COUNCIL Leader Carl Maynard really so stupid to think that his specious statement (Rye Observer June 15) that it is fairer to charge residents with gardens for green bins as some residents don’t have gardens, will be believed by anybody?

Since when have council tax charges been made on the basis of individual needs?

Applying that argument, then households with a number of residents should pay more for their black bin to be emptied because they generate more waste for landfill than a single resident household.

Perhaps residents who live on high ground should not pay for flood defences as it does not affect them.

It is a ridiculous and unfair plan to charge more for green bins.

The cost should be part of the Council Tax for all.
