Founded by Dave Razzell in 1994 the group holds walks every Sunday morning and also on Tuesday evenings in summer months.

Dave started the group, then aged 32, as he found most walking groups in the area at the time catered mainly for retired people or long distance walks.

“I felt there was a need for something younger and less serious” Dave commented. “It has proven to be a popular concept with up to 30 people attending some walks. We start at a different local pub each time and walk for around two hours finishing back at the pub for lunch or drinks. It’s all very informal and friendly. We don’t take the walking seriously. It’s all about enjoying the Sussex countryside whilst having a good chat and making friends with the added benefit that walking outdoors is a low cost way to improve your health”.

Stephen Cornford and Dave share most of the walk leading, others also chip in and lead walks as needed. There is also a variety of well attended evening meals and social events organised. “It’s a social walking group that has made a difference for many people over those 20 years” said Dave. “I still feel thrilled, when someone tells me what a difference the walking group has made to their life”.
