Huge increase in town traffic

I have lived in Battle for the last 14 years and have seen the traffic increase hugely.

What’s going on? The High Street is constantly busy nowadays, with endless cars and lorries trundling through Battle, making it generally less pleasant.

It’s very clear that most of the vehicles are just passing through.

As an experiment, I have recently followed some HGVs from Johns Cross heading towards Battle to see where they went.

None of them stopped here but carried on to Castleham and Pinewood estates and beyond.

I’m guessing that people’s satnavs are directing through Battle instead of further down the A21 in St Leonards.

Something should also be done about HGVs stopping in the High Street at peak times and causing huge tailbacks!

I don’t have an answer , but it’s a problem for the town.
