A determined young boy, Jake is aiming to inspire local people of all ages to follow in his footsteps by joining a local charity fun run for a cause close to his heart.

At 18 months old Jake was diagnosed with cerebral palsy which for him meant he had no real use of his legs and only the use of his left arm, his right arm was almost but forgotten. Being able to run and play like other children was not possible at this stage and his future mobility was uncertain.

Through attending The Dame Vera Lynn Trust School for Parents, a charity that receives no statutory funding, Jake who is now four has gained almost full use of his right arm and has started to realise that full and independent mobility in his legs may be a possibility one day.

Jake is such a happy boy and nothing seems to faze him so to celebrate his achievements Jake with the help of his mum is taking part in the DVLT Halloween Charity Fun Run on the 1st November at Cowdray Park in Midhurst. Jake is asking for the public to get behind him, run with him and help raise money for the other children at the school so they can continue to benefit from the service that helped him so much.

Jake’s mum stated: “We are so grateful to the staff and fundraisers of the school, the support they have given us has been tremendous. Jake started mainstream school in September and although everyday life continues to be a struggle Jake always has a smile on his face.

“We both want to give back to this wonderful and amazing life changing charity so taking part in this event seemed the perfect way to recognise how Jake has progressed and help the other families at the school. We hope the public will get behind Jake and his fundraising plans.” You can support Jake by texting JAKE23 £1 to 70070
