Let us have green not more grey

So Maynard and his crew wish to '˜develop' the Eastern Parade.

We saw the effects of Conservative ‘development’ in the west, where they swept away the pitch and putt and the garden with the wall and gate, where parents could sit enjoying the sun secure in the knowledge their children were safe.

We have seen ‘development’ near the De La Warr , in a small area where seats are now exposed to the elements and grit spills at will onto the pavement.

The original designers of the Eastern Parade were clearly conscious, not just of the tourists who spill in for three months, but also of the residents who are here for 12!

Spirits are lifted by the beds of colourful seasonal plants.

The shelters here offer beauty and protection and, due to the efforts of Jackie Bialeska, are listed and therefore cannot be demolished.

Some of the benches along the front are also protected by brick walls.

Residents and tourists alike can wander and run enjoying the wonderful open space and vistas of green meeting blue.

Such a useful area for community events.

Let there be no more concrete and grit!
