LETTER: High standards set at festival

I would like to take the opportunity to thank all the performers who took part in the 4th Horsham Performers Platform and especially the members of the public who came to support.

Since the festival was started in 2010 (or should I say resurrected, as there was a Horsham Music Festival from 1929 to 1968) our numbers have grown rather quickly and this year we were oblged to timetable in a total of six days of classes!

The standard of singing and playing by our performers was much higher than average. I can say this with some authority, as I adjudicate at music festivals all over the UK and this is a reflection on the high quality of music teaching in the district, both in our schools and in private practice.

Next year will be our 5th year and we hope to get more people involved in helping with stewarding and especially marketing and publicity. If anybody feels they could help in this way, please feel free to contact me via the website, www.horsham-performers-platform.co.uk

We pride ourselves on providing a performance opportunity (without competition!) for amateur singers and musicians of all ages in a lovely performance space at St John’s Church, Broadbridge Heath and a warm welcome!
