LETTER: Pensioners are getting kicked
It seems to be the ‘let’s hammer the pensioners’ season, all of the political parties are competing to see who can kick the OAPs hard enough.
The present pensioners have paid income tax and national insurance all of their lives to have a reasonable standard of living, but were robbed by Thatcher when the Government changed the way that the annual pension rise was estimated from the wage rises to the cost of living rises it was estimated the basic pension lost approximately £30-£40 per week.
