LETTER: Pledge support for Horsham cricket

The success of the Horsham Cricket Festival, which was blessed with fine weather, good cricket on an excellent wicket, large appreciative crowds and superb hospitality from the local cricket club, must not create a mood of complacency, despite the plea in a national cricket newspaper for the festival to remain an annual fixture in the calendar.

Zac Toumazi, the Sussex CCC chief executive officer, has reiterated that the event must be economically and financially sound for it to continue.

This necessarily means that local support and sponsorship is critical for its future to be secure.

Perhaps organisations keen to see County Cricket in Horsham in years to come should contact the County or Horsham Cricket Clubs now to register confirmed support, and not wait until next year when the staging of the event could be in serious doubt.
