LETTER: Wonderful 5k run in memory of Jo

We were delighted to see that there had been a successful 5k Run in Horsham Park (WSCT Thurs Sept 11th 2014).

However this was not the ‘First ever 5k run in the park’ as your headline proclaimed! On Saturday 30th August 2008 our daughter Pippa Quail organised a wonderful 5k run in memory of her elder sister Jo Quail on the fifth anniversary of Jo’s death in a road accident in Australia, both sisters having been at college and the ATC in Horsham.

Pippa had enormous help from Horsham District Council in planning the event and £2,547 was raised for the charity RoadPeace.

All this was reported in the West Sussex County Times on September 12th 2008.

I just felt the record needed to be put straight. As parents we were very proud of Pippa for organising the event and being able to remember our Jo in such a special way.
