Polo success raises £50,000 for Winston’s Wish

Bremont and Hurtwood Polo Club held The Bremont Watch Trophy Day in aid of Winston’s Wish, the charity for bereaved children, on Sunday 9th June 2013 to raise money to help extend the charities services into Surrey. The day raised in excess of £50,000 which will make a very real difference to the charity.

Guests enjoyed champagne on arrival, followed by a 3-course lunch, auction, two polo matches concluding with a prize giving. Winston Bear, the charity’s mascot, also made a special appearance on a horse between the matches. Giles English, Lord and Lady March, John Ayton and Annoushka Ducas, Kenney Jones and Nicholas Soames were amongst those who attended the day. Speaking about the day, Giles English said “Suffering a loss of a father at a young age I can very much relate to the great work that Winston’s Wish is doing. It was our pleasure at Bremont to be involved with the event and I thank everyone for their great support and also making it such a fun day.”

Susan Tait, Regional Operations Manager for Winston’s Wish, said “with this incredible support we will be able to make a springboard change into service provision for supporting bereaved children in the South East. This will offer the opportunity for more children to talk about their experiences in a safe and supporting environment and we hope to minimise the risk of resultant emotional, physical and behavioural problems in the long term.”
