School parking chaos

I AM writing on behalf of my elderly parents concerning your article about the parking situation and traffic chaos caused by Bexhill High School and would like to categorically state that it has has most definitely NOT been resolved!

All that Mr Conn, headteacher, (I do not know why he feels the need to be addressed as

executive principal) has succeeded in doing by not putting any thought into the planning process - despite abandoning his pupils for a full three months- listening to the concerns of the parents of his pupils, and refusing entry onto the site, is to push the problem onto someone else.

My parents live in Bidwell Avenue: my father is 75 and disabled. Can Mr Conn please confirm that he feels it is acceptable to keep the driveway to his school clear, but not that of an elderly couple?

I have also spoken to several of my parents’ neighbours and they are all upset and horrified at the chaos, disruption and on occasion, danger, this has caused them during school drop-off and pick-up times.

Mr Conn, you were warned this was going to happen during your consultation period, when you announced you were going to change the school hours to finish at 5pm, by parents who, quite rightly, raised concerns about the safety of their children.

I am an old Bexhill High School pupil myself and have several friends with children now at your school who attended these meetings. Please can you explain why you chose to ignore parents’ concerns and carried on regardless?

On this note, I would also like to ask why Mr Conn is now looking to appoint a team of safety marshals, paying £6.67 per hour at the taxpayers’ expense, when he was warned in advance that there was a clear safety issue, with pupils forced to walk home in the dark?

I feel Mr Conn has a lot of questions to answer and apologies to make to neighbours. After all, they had all lived here as a peaceful community before Mr Conn decided to trample all over them and their feelings.
