Time for a break...

I REFER to the article (Gazette, November 11) regarding kerbside vehicle sales.

This is a problem that has been prevalent throughout Littlehampton for many years.

This has been allowed to take place for far too long and enough is enough! It’s time that the county council and the district council got their act together and really listened to local residents.

It is just not good enough for these Conservative-controlled councils to keep coming up with excuses as to why they cannot stop this nuisance. Nor is it sufficient for the local Conservative MP to simply say that “it is a huge inconvenience for residents”.

Of course it is, but it is much more than this – it represents a total disregard for the feelings of all law-abiding council tax-paying residents in the town.

These rogues are no friends of the town nor its residents. It is scandalous that there has been so much dragging of feet, especially by the county council, that this problem has not been tackled decisively.

If the county council is unable to find suitable contractors to remove vehicles that contravene the law then they should fill the gap and do it themselves.

The clue is that councils should be providing needed services, not paying huge salaries to management.

It just isn’t fair that these kerbside vehicle traders are allowed to get away with their anti-social behaviour. In our town, let’s give them a KITKAT – Kick Into Touch Kerbside Auto-Traders!
