With Love wins window dressing competition

Thanks to an anonymous donation, the committee organising the Billingshurst Show was able to add another dimension to the event this year.

It was agreed that a cup should be purchased and all the traders in the High Street and Jengers Mead should be invited to take part in a free competition to see who could come up with the best dressed window illustrating the theme of this year’s Show, which was Red, White & Blue.

A significant number of businesses took up the challenge and in the weeks preceding the Show varying red, white and blue windows emerged.

The interpretations were very varied and this obviously gave our judges a difficult time to select the best one, but after considerable deliberations it was agreed that With Love would be awarded the cup this year.

This was presented to the owner on Friday afternoon by Glyn Pullen, who was representing Billingshurst Scouts and Guides, and Colin Jenkins, president of the local branch of the Rotary Club, the organisations which mastermind the annual event.

Second and third places went to Willow and Coco’s, who each received a certificate.

We are now looking forward to even more participation next year on whatever theme is chosen!
