We may not see his like again

May I say, like so many local residents, how very saddened I was at the passing of John Hodges.

He really was a very special man and indeed irreplaceable.

One had only to read the fine tributes in last week’s Observer to realise Hastings has lost one of it’s finest ambassadors. John was a modest man, but I’m sure he would have been moved to see how many hearts he touched and how respected he was by so many people.

We may not see his likes again.

He was so genuinely passionate about Hastings and its residents that it would be fitting if the town could repay him in the future with some form of permanent recognition.

He certainly deserves it.
