Parade and fun at Egerton Park

It's a day of respect and pride but also a day for "old-fashioned family fun".

An Armed Forces Day parade will be held this Saturday in Egerton Park with more than 200 men, women and children taking part.

The event has been organised by Bexhill & District Veterans Association to raise money for Help For Heroes, and will be attended by the Lord Lieutenant Peter Fields, who will take the salute, and his wife Margaret.

MP Greg Barker will also be there, as will RDC chairman Cllr Robert Elliston, Town Mayor Cllr Jimmy Carroll, and Royal British Legion county president Group Captain Derek North.

There will be a Drum Head Service conducted by Rev Daniel Smith which will include the blessing of the Bexhill & District Veterans' Association standard.

Visitors to Egerton Park will be able to enjoy looking through more than 20 stalls and displays by local charities and businesses, and arena events throughout the afternoon will be performances by the Robertson Academy Pipes and Drums band, ESSPA, and King Offa school which is putting on a pupil dance display.

There are children's rides throughout the day, and traditional treats such as candyfloss available.
