Parents in high praise of top infant school

Parents lavished praise on Rose Green Infant School during a quickfire inspection by education watchdogs.

The backing from the mums and dads of the 265 pupils was the most positive response seen by the Ofsted inspectors.

One parent, quoted by lead inspector Eileen Chadwick in her report, said: "I couldn't be happier with Rose Green Infant School.

"The school constantly strives to improve standards in both teaching and learning and in the fun aspects of a child's experience '“ a fantastic school."

Headteacher Susanne Carter said she was delighted that Ofsted had noted the many excellent aspects of life at this school.

"We were appreciative of the positive comments the parents made about the school in the questionnaire. It confirms what we know '“ that the Rose Green school community is exceptional," she stated.

Ms Chadwick and her two fellow inspectors largely agreed during their

They gave the Hawkins Close school a good overall rating and said it had some outstanding features.

"The headteacher provides very good leadership and fosters an ethos where staff are keen to try out new ideas and constantly improve.

"Pupils thrive and their excellent personal development and behaviour are springboards for all their learning."

Outstanding praise was also given for the curriculum offered to the children and the quality of their relationships and pastoral provision.

The quality of teaching, leadership and management and the work of the

governors were judged by Ofsted inspectors to be good.

Pupils' work in maths and reading gained the same rating.

Ms Chadwick agreed that the school, led by Susanne Carter, had identified areas for further improvement.

reading along with aspiring targets for the capable children.

The need also existed to improve the outside play reception area by including more chances for the children to write and read in a range of learning activities.
