I think this is an appropriate time to remind dog owners about cleaning up after their dogs. As far as I can see dog owners fall into one of three categories. The dog owner who walks his/her dog in the fields , the dog owner who walks around the lanes but does clear up after their dog and the dog owner who just leaves it on the pavement OR puts it in a bag and throws it into someone’s garden! School Lane does suffer from irresponsible dog owners and it is most unpleasant for everyone using the Lane especially children going to and from school. Please, please clear up after your pet. There is no excuse.’

Certainly a fair point I would have said; we do have a dog bin now in Main Street on the corner of The Maltings, so either use that or take your dog’s waste home.

As mentioned above, the Peasmarsh Village Society is organising the usual Clean-up Day in conjunction with Keep Britain Tidy on Saturday June 23.They will be meeting at Brickfields at 9.30am and they finish around 12noon. Please remember to wear protective gloves and take a grabber if you have one; children over 7 welcome if accompanied by an adult. Please support the PVS and go along to help if you can spare some time; it makes our village look so much nicer to be free of rubbish!

A reminder that on Monday July 2 at 2pm at Ferry Road Health Centre, Rye, a Community Diabetes Dietitian will give a talk on Healthy Eating and Nutrition for people with diabetes. This is being organised by the Patient Participation Group; all welcome.

The Peasmarsh Flying Start baby and toddler group is held at the Peasmarsh Memorial Hall every Thursday morning (during term time) from 9.30am-11.30am and costs £2 per family, all welcome.

The Flying Start Pre-school is housed in a purpose built building at Peasmarsh School. The Pre School is open term time only from 9am until 3.30pm. Please ring 01797 230325 and choose option 3 if you would like more information.

People may have been confused by the fact that all last week’s church services were at Beckley when (as a 3rd Sunday) the 10 o’clock would normally have been at Peasmarsh, but was moved because of the Peasmarsh Chamber Music Festival.

This Sunday both the 8am and 10am services will be at Beckley church; there will be a service of Holy Eucharist at Peasmarsh church at 3.30.
