Brighton and Hove Albion tackle period poverty with free tampons

Brighton and Hove’s football club will be providing free feminine hygiene products.

In partnership with Wightman & Parrish, the club will aim to fight period poverty with free products on match days.

More than 11,000 sanitary products will be provided by the commercial health and hygiene product provider, all of which are plastic-free.

Nicholas Parrish, managing director at Wightman & Parrish said: “With ‘Period Poverty’ having a huge impact on many young women and girls across the UK, we applaud Brighton & Hove Albion for picking up this campaign and we are looking forward to providing female sanitary products to their football fans at zero cost.

“We are excited to support the club and hope to see more and more stadiums across the UK move forward with this initiative.”

The Albion became the first Premier League club to support the On the Ball campaign in 2018 and will continue its support during the 2019/20 season.

Started by three passionate Celtic fans, the campaign aims to welcome more female football fans into stadiums across the country.

Many stadiums do provide sanitary products but usually charge a fee for them.
