The four-year-old labrador cross collie is a smart dog and loves learning, as staff at Dogs Trust Shoreham have found.

Zeke’s favourite pastimes are playing fetch, exploring the quiet countryside, settling down with a long-lasting chew and spending time with humans.

Adel Burnett, rehoming centre manager, said: “He’s hoping to find an experienced owner who is keen to continue with his ongoing training, using reward-based methods.

“Zeke is looking for an adult-only home in an area local to the Shoreham rehoming centre, so that his potential owners can begin their relationship and receive guidance with his training over multiple sessions with the team.

“Ultimately, Zeke is looking for a special someone who could provide him with a stable routine, lots of input and show him the love that he deserves.”

Zeke is beginning to socialise with other dogs while out on his walks, so can potentially have walking buddies with other friendly canines, but he needs to be the only pet in the household.

His new home should be situated away from the hustle and bustle, on a quiet road and with access to quiet walking areas by foot. A good-sized garden where he can burn off some steam from time to time would be perfect.

Dogs Trust Shoreham, in Brighton Road, Shoreham, is still closed for walk-ins but the team can now book appointments for those dogs who cannot be rehomed using the new Handover at Home process.

Potential new owners will be able to meet the dog they are interested in at the centre in an outside play area, or in a spacious area that is separate from the main rehoming centre such as a training barn, while adhering to social distancing guidelines.
