Renata Kroutil-Lamude came to England on holiday 23 years ago and made it her home. She joined Guild Care’s team on night shifts in 2019 before becoming a day care assistant and has now been promoted to supervise care teams.

Renata said, “It’s such a great team to be part of here at Caer Gwent. Everyone works together and supports each other. It means there’s a very positive & cheerful attitude throughout the home which residents also enjoy. I’m naturally a caring person and I enjoy the different relationships I have with every resident. They are all individuals, and we get to know people – and we laugh a lot together!”

Guild Care ensures all staff are professionally trained to build their skills and abilities, with an ongoing training programme that includes hands on sessions as well as e-learning.

Michelle West has also been promoted to the role of Care Supervisor at Caer Gwent, where she’s worked for more than two years. Michelle became a carer straight from school, a role she loved. She took time out to bring up her family before approaching Caer Gwent on the recommendation of friends who already worked at Guild Care.

“Being a carer is what I always wanted to do, I’ve never wanted to do anything else,” said Michelle. “It’s such a rewarding job. When you go home, you know you’ve made someone’s day, you’ve really made a difference.

“We know everyone’s preferred routines and how they like things done. All the residents get to know us and we respect that this is very much their home. I love being here for people, and there’s always something to do.”

Both Michelle and Renata are both excited to take on their new challenges and progress at Caer Gwent. They will be responsible for checking all the care procedures are adhered to and making sure care is completed and documented to the highest standards.
