The Martlets’ ambassador turns 57 on July 31 and wants donations to Martlets to help them continue to provide hospice care following the impact of COVID-19 on their fundraising.

Throughout the pandemic Martlets has kept caring for local people with terminal illness and their loved ones at their hospice and in homes across Brighton, Hove and the havens. Norman has been a proud ambassador for Martlets for the past three years and has been a keen participant in their fundraising events from wearing a Superman costume and tackling an inflatable assault course to speaking and DJing at their annual Halloween Ball.

Martlets relies on community support for the majority of its funding, but has been unable to hold fundraising events and has had to close its charity shops for many months so Norman was looking for alternative ways he could help show his support.

One of the ways Martlets has received support from the community is from people holding birthday fundraisers on social media - asking their friends to donate the money they may have spent buying a present, sending a card or just buying a drink in the pub. Norman has seen how the charity depends on these simple acts of kindness and is hoping that people might do the same to help him celebrate his birthday. “We are so grateful to Norman for this fantastic birthday fundraiser and for helping us to raise awareness of other ways you can donate to Martlets to help us continue to provide vital care in our community. We know he would be bowled over if people were moved to donate to Martlets for his birthday!”
