There will be more than 50 moggies hoping to catch the eye of a new family at Cats Protection’s Lonely Hearts event on Saturday, February 15.

The Valentine’s-themed event will be held at the National Cat Adoption Centre, in Lewes Road, Chelwood Gate, from 10am until 4pm, with a luxury Harrods hamper raffle.

Among the cats looking for homes on the day will be 16-year-old Beatrice, a cat which came into the centre as a stray and is now looking for a warm and cosy home of her own.

Although Beatrice is an older cat, the feline is still playful and would enjoy the attention of a loving new owner.

Beatrice needs a home with no other cats or dogs but would be happy in a family home with children.

Another cat in search of a new owner, Dillon needs a calm and quiet home as the only pet.

Dillon can be a little shy with new people, but tends to bond closely with special people.

Dillon is a gentle cat and would like a home where he can cuddle up for a snooze or potter in a garden.

Danielle Draper, centre manager, said: “We have some lovely cats in our care who would like nothing more than to find a home of their own.

“We’re hoping our Valentine’s event will encourage more would-be owners to our centre to find their perfect pet.”
