Retailer Waterstones has announced the official opening date of its new bookshop in Hove.
The store at 90 to 91 George Street – formerly a branch of Clinton Cards – will be formally launched on Saturday, November 9 at 9am with a ribbon cutting event at 11am.
Brighton poet and playwright Rosy Carrick is set to join staff for the launch, the retailer has confirmed.
The branch is one of two new stores that Waterstones is opening in Sussex. Its new shop in Rustington, at 130 The Street, will open on Saturday (October 26).
In a statement, manager of the new bookshops Sam Noonan said: "In Hove, we're thrilled to continue the proud tradition of bookselling in the area.
"It's also particularly exciting to be located on George Street which is such a vital part of the community.
“Above all, both bookshop teams are keen to make everyone feel extremely welcome and we can’t wait to share our passion for books with them.”
The store will be run by a team of six and will also stock stationery and gifts. It will be open from 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 5pm on Sundays.
