Led by principal Clare Jarvis, the Hove branch of Make Believe will give 65 children aged three to 18 expert tuition in singing, acting and dancing at St Andrews Primary School.

Make Believe was founded by Joel Kern in 2004, and runs performing arts schools in and around London, Australia and most recently Manchester, teaching youngsters the basic skills in the performing arts.

Mr Kern said: “We are really excited with the Hove launch. Clare has a lot of experience and has some great ideas for the branch to grow.”

Ms Jarvis, a professional singer and actor, was hoping to open the branch last year, but after having treatment for breast cancer she decided to wait until now.

She said: “I’m really looking forward to the opportunity of making Hove one of the best Make Believe branches. I know there is bags of talent in the area and I am confident of enabling my students reach their full potential.”

The Hove branch will operate a ‘fair pricing policy’, enabling children of all backgrounds to benefit from the expert tuition.
