A person became ‘medically trapped’ after an accident near a nature reserve in Newhaven.

The accident happened next to the Ouse Estuary Nature Reserve.

The A259 was blocked both ways following the accident, between Mill Drove (Bishopstone) and B2109 Avis Road (Newhaven).

Traffic reports now say the road has been cleared and traffic has returned to normal.

A spokesman for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “One person was involved in the accident and became medically trapped.

“We released them and they were taken into the care of South East Coast Ambulance Service.”
