A crushed car was trapped under a fallen tree near Fiveways yesterday afternoon (June 15).
The tree fell at Stanford Avenue close to its junction with Beaconsfield Road.
Tom Lamont, who works at Burntaxe in Brighton, came across the scene at around 3pm yesterday.
He said: "I was walking up to my car in Fiveways, and I saw this massive fallen tree and a few people standing around."
Mr Lamont said police were at the scene, but no-one appeared to be in the parked car.
A Brighton and Hove City Council spokesperson said: "Our in house arborist team removed the Elm tree from a car in Stanford Avenue on Thursday.
