Planning specialist St Congar will reveal the plans for the privately-owned 37-hectare site nestled between the A27 and King George VI Avenue.

St Congar said it has been working with the landowners to produce proposals for Toad's Hole Valley that will deliver around 800 new homes – of which 40 per cent will be affordable. The plans will include employment space, landscaped/food growing space, a new local centre and land made available for a school if required by the council.

The site is allocated for development in Brighton and Hove’s City Plan and is a key site to ensure that the city can meet the demand for new market and affordable homes.

Residents are now invited to a public exhibition where they can find out more about the proposals, meet the project team, and provide their feedback.

The exhibition will take place in two locations on two days: Saturday, December 2, from 10am-2pm, at St Peter’s Church Hall, Court Farm Road, West Blatchington; and on Tuesday, December 5, from 4.30pm-8.30pm, at Hall 2, Hangleton Community Centre, Hove.

Since 2011 the council has consulted with residents to produce a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) to guide how this development will look, which St Congar said its proposals have responded to.

Tony Blackburn from St Congar said: "We’re looking forward to presenting our draft plans and hearing local residents’ comments and feedback. Our proposals are in line with the council’s policies and SPD, which was put together over many years of consultation with local residents."
