Police are appealing for information following an arson of a car in Brighton.

Police say the car was deliberately set on fire between 10.05pm and 10.15pm on May 13 while parked in Uckfield Close in the Whitehawk area of Brighton.

The vehicle owner saw someone acting suspiciously near her car, a blue Hyundai Tucson, and she shouted at him to leave it alone.

Officers say he left the area but she saw a dark colour vehicle drive slowly past.

A short time later she was alerted by a neighbour that her car was on fire said police.

PC Mark Butcher said: “We are keen to hear from anyone else who might have seen anything suspicious in that area and might be able to help.”

The incident is being treated as arson, and anyone with any information is asked to report it online or call 101 quoting serial 1166 of 13/05.

Alternatively, you can visit the Crimestoppers or contact the independent charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
