Police investigate after fire rages through Brighton flat

Police are investigating a fire which tore through a flat in Brighton overnight.

Firefighters rushed to the ground floor property in Sussex Street just after 3am this morning (September 20).

Crews used 1 in 7 foam, two breathing apparatus, and a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames, which caused “extensive damage” to the building.

One person was taken care of by ambulance teams for smoke inhalation, the fire service said.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said, “Police want to hear from any witnesses who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area or have any information about the fire.”
