Primary school allocations revealed in Brighton and Hove

Around 90 per cent of children in Brighton and Hove were offered their first choice primary school this year, the city council said.

But 45 students set to start primary school in September (1.7 per cent) didn’t get either of their three top choices.

Parents found out today (April 1), which school their child will go to in September 2017.

Brighton and Hove City Council said this year 89.98 per cent - 2,382 students - got their first preference, compared to 87.9 per cent last year.

117 students were given their second preference (6.6 per cent) and 43 were given their third choice (1.6 per cent).

The city council said those who were not offered a place at one of their preferred schools were offered places at the nearest school to their home address that had places available.
