£450,000 review of adult social care services

EAST Sussex County Council has begun a two year £450,000 review of its countywide adult social care services.

The council spends some 18.5 million a year on such services and employs 700 staff for the purpose.

There have been fears that the review could lead to the closure of some health care services and possible staff redundancies.

But Keith Hunkley, director of adult social care, said today (Friday): 'They are a highly skilled and flexible workforce and we want to keep them.'

But he added: 'I can't say categorically that no buildings will close. The purpose of the review is to seek the best for the people in our care.'
