Pub says cheers to euro
A LEWES pub this week began accepting the euro across its bar counter.
Local teacher Kit Wood made a small leap for European unity by successfully tendering a 10 euro note in The Brewers Arms in exchange for a pint of Harveys and a half of Biddenden cider, both local products.

Hide AdWith a 10 euro note valued at 6, Kit received the appropriate change in English coins.
Said manager Kathy Simmonds, pictured with Kit: 'We believe we are the first pub in Lewes to accept euros.
'I am quite happy to take Kit s money in any reasonable currency that he offers.
Lewes Old Grammar teacher Kit said: 'I m proud to be making history by being the first person to buy a pint in Lewes with Euros.
'I hope I won t be the last.
