Queen's Regiment marks national group's 50th with Royal Sussex

The Chichester branch of Queen's Regiment Association is celebrating the national group's 50th year.

They were joined by the Royal Sussex Association for the celebration, which was held on Monday.

The roast beef lunch was held at the Chichester City Club.

Dave Tilley, chairman of the Queen’s Regiment, said: “The Royal Sussex lost its name and became the 3rd Bn Queen’s Regiment 50 years ago. We bought these two fine regiments together for a veterans lunch.

“Awards were presented to John ‘Chalky’ White for more than 25 years service to the Chichester branch of the Royal Sussex as secretary.

“There was also a presentation to Trevor Cox for 25 years as standard bearer for Royal Sussex, and a presentation to Captain Len Butt for being a true leader in life in the cadet force Chichester.

“Mick Kipping, Chelsea Pensioner, was made an honorary member of the Chichester branch of the Queen’s Regiment.”

Dave Tilley organised the event along with Eddy Drew, with thanks to the city club and Gary’s catering team.

Royal Sussex meet on the second Wednesday of the month.

The Queen’s Regiment meet on the last Wednesday of the month, and they are always looking for new members.
